Always Calling Home: the Archipelago

The Archipelago by Vanessa Lorenzo in collab with @mathldbnrd @nataliepaneng_ @martin.c.wilson @sunsunus and an archipelago of sound and media artists. Please join us in the NEW HEAVENS - a 3D Virtual Environment - for a collective listening experience titled SPACE ROCK NOISE by Sanele Ngubane @sunsunus. We will also be joined by Vanessa Lorenzo @hybridoaa Miranda Moss @mirandam0ss , DJ Bone Black @dj.bone.black , Vanessa Heer @vava_heer , Agnes Pe @agnes_____pe Jacques van Zyl @n.o.i.s.e.m.u.s.i.c and Caroline Ann Baur @carolineannbaur . Lorenzo’s project Always Calling Home assembles together a cache of interrelated scenarios that comprehend and/or re-imagine our relationship with ‘outer space; futurity; and the skies’. Lorenzo’s project is a potential blueprint, possible fragment and/or sketch, whereby the meteorites -imbued with a certain anthropomorphism- become actants of speculative and unfamiliar futurity.

The exhibition INTERFACING NEW HEAVENS is a collaboration between the Javett Art Centre at the University of Pretoria @javettup and the artists-in-labs program @artistsinlabs of Zurich University of the Arts @zhdkcampus .
INTERFACING NEW HEAVENS is supported by the Swiss Arts Council @prohelvetia_johannesburg and the Embassy of Switzerland in Pretoria @switzerland_southafrica . The physical opening of the exhibition will take place on 21 August 2021.
